Sometimes I can't stop the tears

Sometimes I can't stop the tears

In life, certain threads weave their way through our hearts, leaving an indelible mark that transcends time and space. For me, those threads are the memories of my grandmothers, whose absence is deeply felt, yet profoundly alive in every corner of my creative endeavor – Felicita & Faustina. This blog post delves into the emotional journey of building a shop and creative studio that stands as a testament to their memory, our Dominican Republic culture, and the enduring bond we share.

The Power of Memory:

Our Shop was born not just as a business venture but as a living tribute to the two incredible women who shaped my existence. Their arts, their laughter, and the essence of our Dominican Republic culture are woven into the very fabric of the products and experiences offered by the shop. Each item tells a story – a narrative that echoes the vibrant spirit of my grandmothers.

However, the journey is not without its emotional challenges. At times, the weight of grief becomes overwhelming, triggered by the act of creation itself. In the midst of launching new classes and products, there are moments when tears flow uncontrollably, a poignant reminder of the void left by their absence. The realization that I can no longer call them, seek their advice, or bask in their laughter creates an emotional whirlwind that even the passage of time cannot fully calm.

Navigating Grief through Creation:

Death, as a universal experience, leaves an indescribable void. Yet, in the process of creating Felicita & Faustina, I discovered a unique coping mechanism. The act of crafting, of bringing imaginative ideas to life, became a therapeutic channel to navigate the complex emotions associated with loss. The very act of creation, which sometimes stirs up memories and tears, also serves as a means of connecting with the departed souls.

The Launch of Imagination House:

This week marked a significant milestone for Felicita & Faustina with the launch of several new classes, including an Imagination House designed for adults to share with their children or favorite youngsters in their lives. This endeavor was inspired by the belief that crafting memories through creative activities is a timeless and everlasting endeavor. The Imagination House is more than just a class; it's a sanctuary where generations come together to build memories that transcend the boundaries of time.

The Everlasting Impact of Crafting Memories:

In the heart of my Dominican Republic culture, family is revered as the cornerstone of existence. Felicita & Faustina embodies this cultural ethos, emphasizing that family is not only about blood relations but the shared experiences and memories that bind us together. Crafting memories through art and creativity becomes a powerful tool to immortalize moments, creating a bridge between past, present, and future.

Felicita & Faustina is more than a creative studio; it's a tribute, a sanctuary, and a vessel for navigating the complex emotions that accompany the loss of loved ones. The tears shed in the process of creation are not just a manifestation of grief but a testament to the enduring love that transcends the boundaries of life and death. As the shop continues to flourish, it stands as a living legacy, a celebration of the power of time, and a reminder that the memories we create with those we love are eternally woven into the fabric of our existence.
