In 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Japan, and it was love at first sight. As someone who adores crafts and exploring cultures, one of the highlights of my trip was meeting a woman in an art store. She shared heartfelt stories about her inspirations and the rich traditions of Japanese art that have been passed down through generations. Her words instantly reminded me of my own grandmothers and the creativity they sparked in me. 

Enter Kinusaiga Art—a captivating technique where drawing, fabric, and imagery come together to form breathtaking, lifelike creations. This art form uses carefully selected fabrics, including silk, to add depth, texture, and vibrancy to every piece. It’s a blend of precision and creativity that transforms fabric into storytelling masterpieces.

• The class is recorded, and you'll have unlimited access to it! Your access link will be included in your kit.

• Your kit will include scrap fabric for testing, but you'll need to provide your own personalized fabrics.
• The kit also includes a test block and your main project, so you can practice before starting the tutorial.

🎨 What to Expect:
In this tutorial, you'll learn two methods of creating Kinusaiga, inspired by how I learned. While I am not Japanese and didn’t originate this craft, I’ve developed some of my own techniques over time that make the process easier and more enjoyable for crafters.

There are many styles of Kinusaiga online, and as an artist, I believe there’s no one “right way” to create. This kit includes the basics you need, but feel free to personalize and add to your craft as you see fit!
